Encouraging exploration, engaging visitors, increasing dwell time & improving accessibility.
Intro partner Adrian Talbot and I have recently designed and overseen the production of a comprehensive wayfinding system for Royal Museums Greenwich. This system was developed to aid navigation throughout the World Heritage site, encompassing the National Maritime Museum, Queen’s House and the Royal Observatory.
Monoliths, finger posts, rail-mounted panels, and free-standing panels have been strategically placed around the site, providing visitors with detailed, venue-specific information. The system’s versatility is enhanced with interchangeable trays that can accommodate seasonal opening hours and highlight current exhibitions.
Because of the World Heritage status of the location, the signage has to adhere to stringent conservation guidelines.
